31DC2014 - Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

I feel like shouting to the skies about my awesomeness!
Oh yes, oh yes!

I can't believe I made it till the end of 31DC2014 - there's technically one more mani to go but... September's last breath is drawn today and I'm PROUD of making this challenge from top to bottom, leaving no prompt behind!

I'm the Queen of the World!! haha

Today's nails are for another 2in1 (oh yes, 'cause I've just said I'm awesome and I need to live up to your expectations ;)).

I've got the Inspired by a Tutorial for 31DC2014 and the Inspired by One or More Techniques for Endless Summer Nail Challenge.
Here we go then:

31DC2014 - Day 29: Inspired by the Supernatural

Today's prompt is one I most dread - finding ideas is always a struggle and I somewhat feel yesterday's and today's prompt are only part of the challenge because its author (unknown so far) didn't know what to challenge themselves with for the last couple days of the month ;)

That being said, here's today's nails:

If you thought Samara and the Ring I command you to crawl back to that TV screen you just came from ;)

31DC2014 - Day 28: Inspired by a Flag

Today's and tomorrow's prompts are probably the ones I dread the most throughout the entire 31DayChallenge.

Inspired by a Flag tells me nothing really and I can't bring myself to choosing a country's flag to interpret it on my nails.
I always try to think of alternative flags to paint on my nails. But today nothing would do. I tried Beach flags first. I tried Diving flags after that. All of those were fails.

I contented myself with a flying racing flag, which... is what it is.

Here are my flying in the wind racing flag nails.
Yes... I know.

31DC2014 - Day 27: Inspired by Artwork

If the name Theo van Doesburg doesn't tell you something, you're just like myself at the beginning of this challenge ;) He was my inspiration for today's prompt after I did some research.

'(...) pure abstraction (...) by a reduction to the essentials of form and colour' was the motto behind the De Stijl artistic movement, also known as neoplasticism.
Who would say a nail challenge would teach me who its founder and leader was, hey? :)

I'd heard of Piet Mondrian already, as probably most of you also have, as he was one of the group's most important members.

Today's nail art then was inspired by this artwork by van Doesburg, from 1918: Rhythmus Eines Russischen Tanzes.

And here's my interpretation of the painting.

31DC2014 - Day 26: Inspired by a Pattern

I took on a mission for today's nail art: to take this pattern and make it pretty :)
Do you know those standardized pictures one used to get (back in the old computers days), all black and white and not artsy in the least?

The pattern I chose for today reminds me of them. And I thought it only fair to spice it up a bit ;)
Wanna see if I succeeded?

It sure looks a lot more colourful now, right? :)

31DC2014 - Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Today's nails are the truest fail in this year's challenge. And I'm not even kidding, nor being stupidly modest.
They're seriously bad and nothing like I envisioned they would be.

I had to combine two challenges into one nail art look again: 31DC2014 - Inspired by Fashion and Endless Summer Nail Challenge - Tropical.

I looked for haute couture tropical dresses, of course, and found out about Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
I chose these dresses to inspire me. I came up with this:

I know: sad, sad, sad.

31DC2014 - Day 24: Inspired by a Book

Hello, lovelies.
You're probably finding this post's hour to be a bit late and I apologize. I had a not too good end to this day and I've been delaying posting, trying to feel better.

It hasn't really happened but nothing a good night sleep won't cure :)
So excuse the late hour and the probably not very wordy post.

I don't think this lil' girl needs any introduction.
Almost everyone, if not everyone, will know her.

31DC2014 - Day 23: Inspired by a Movie

I won't say much today about my nails for Day 23 prompt, because... I had a really hard time choosing which movie to represent on my nails.

There are way too many movies I love and nearly all of them would make for some really hard nail art.
As I was going for something simple, this is what I chose:

Spirited Away nails

This is inspired by Spirited Away, by Hayao Miyazaki.
I'd previously done some nails inspired by this movie (click here to see them).

31DC2014 - Day 22: Inspired by a Song

I knew straight away what I wanted to paint on my nails for today's 31DC2014 theme: PINK FLOYD!

If you've been following me for the past month, you know I started a new job this month: I'm finally working as an English teacher and I couldn't be happier.

So, for today's inspired-by-a-song nail art I went with 'Another Brick in the Wall - Part II', to remind me of what's important about teaching - 'Part II is a protest song against rigid schooling in general and boarding schools in particular'.

Here's my Pink Floyd nails - I wore them proudly today!
Love, love, love them!

31DC2014 - Day 21: Inspired By A Colour

For today's prompt I chose a polish from the cutest Flormar collection: Beauty Toys.

I present you:

31DC2014 - Day 20: Watermarble

What a little sleep on do to you :)
Today's nails are soooo cool, I tell you - and that's considering watermarble is usually a nightmare for me.

Which is not saying it wasn't, 'cause it still was.
Finding the right polishes to succeed is always a drag and you have to get yourself into several failed attempts to finally find the one nail polish combination that will come out okay ;)

Mine was this:

31DC2014 Watermarble

Doesn't it look yummy? :D
I'm specially happy about it, because last year's was terrible hehe

I figured I'd do something nice and elegant, quite proper and lady like.
It can't all be about cute nails, right? ;)
Diversity is awesome!

31DC2014 - Day 19: Galaxies

Today's nails are out of this world! Well, not truly all that, but since its theme is galaxies, it kinda fit ;)

I think I've done better galaxies before or maybe I'm just being too harsh on myself and today's mani isn't all that bad.
I'll let you be the judge of that:

starry galaxy nails

Know what I mean... it's not terrible but something doesn't feel right...

31DC2014 - Day 18: Half Moons

Today's nails were a success among my teeny tiny students! :)

Wanna see why?

Let's talk about cute, hey?! ;)

31DC2014 - Day 17: Glitter

IT'S DISCO BALL TIME! PUT YO' GLASSES ON!

I know, way crazy, right?
I promised myself I wouldn't do this for today's theme, but let's be real, here - can anyone in all seriousness resist a holo glitter placement?
Nooooo!

31DC2014 - Day 16: Geometric

Geometric nails today!! And I didn't know what to make! I couldn't have something taking me forever to achieve, because being a teacher means you always bring work home, so simple it had to be ;)

And I'm so happy with the alternative I got! My nails ended up looking amazing (feeling rather modest today, am I not? ;)).

But check them out and you'll see what I mean:

First of all, can you believe I was patient enought to finish these? ;)

31DC2014 - Day 15: Delicate Pattern

Every time I start writing another post I only feel like shouting to the world: I've made it! I'm still here! BOOYAH! :)

And today is another major 2 in 1 mani, where I've combined both 31DC2014 Day 15 theme - delicate pattern - and Endless Summer Nails Challenge theme - destination city.

I bring you my take on...

31DC2014 - Day 14: Flowers

I'm so happy about today's mani! :)
Specially since I've managed an elegant look, all original and all on me, so mega yay for me! ;)

I am a major fan of all the French nail artists who make incredibly beautiful floral manis and have their nails always so flawless and posh (just check Tartofraises or Cherry Nail Art - they're some of my favourites).

So for today's challenge I bring you:

One Stroke Flowers

My very own one-stroke and arabesque mani - tada!! :))

31DC2014 - Day 13: Animal Print

I've got my 31DC2014 first flop! Yu-uhhhh!
It was bound to happen, sooner or late, right? So let us put our big girl pants on and be fabulous about our fails ;)

Animal print and I have never been too close and even last year things didn't go well.
This year it didn't go smoother nor differently.

31DC2014 - Day 12: Stripes

I'm happy I managed another 2in1 as I combined the usual Friday Inocos look with today's 31DC2014 Day 12 theme: stripes.

Are you ready for some cuteness?

Cuteness overload! :)

31DC2014 - Day 11: Polka Dots

I had no idea what I'd make for today's nail art, so...

31DC2014 Polka Dots

Good thing my sister has got a polka dot bikini. Good thing she left it at my place and I had to put it away, 'cause it lingered on my mind and I took my inspiration from it ;)

31DC2014 - Day 10: Gradient Nails

I made it to 31DC2014 Day 10 alive and kinda of sane! Yesterday's design was submited very red line like, 'cause work got in the way and, although I'd rather paint my nails all day everyday, work is a priority ;)

Nevertheless, I'm making it up to you today with a gorgeous design, inspired by the wild and talented Cristine from @simplynailogical (her YouTube channel here and her Facebook page here - go like her everywhere, now - go, go, go! :))).

Not only do I love Cristine's work - she's the inventive mastermind behind the scaled gradient nails - but I also love how lovely and lively she is within the nail art community.

She's got the wittiest come backs for internet bullies and trolls and she always replies to your comments and words in the sweetest way possible, with a pinch of sense of humour. Yep, love the gal ;)

Here's my recreation of her well-known single chevron scaled gradient.

31DC2014 - Day 9: Rainbow Nails

Rainbow nails were tough to figure out: I had in mind several different designs, all cute and kawaii like but I couldn't make any of them work.

So... I settled for this:

Rainbow gradient and fairy dust

31DC2014 - Day 8: Metallic Nails

Hellooooo lovelies! :)
I won't talk much today, 'cause my head has done all the talking it could possibly manage today. I've been in and out of meetings and my brain is suffering from it, for sure ;)

Instead I'll let you enjoy the pictures, which I'm quite proud of, I must say :)

Today's nails were inspired by this textured painting, created by Christine Krainock.

31DC2014 - Day 7: B&W Nails

Another day to 31DC2014 and I did it again! :D
This mani was thought for and made to fit three purposes: 31DC2014, this month's first challenge of Polisher's Inc. and a group's challenge on making a nail art to the theme: movies!

I'm a champion! Oh yeah! :))
Or not ... 'cause really my mani isn't all that perfect but bugger that hehehe

31DC2014 - Day 7: B&W Nails

Ladies, I bring you one of my favourite movies: Singing in the Rain!! :)

31DC2014 - Day 6: Violet Nails

For Day 6, as I was lacking major inspiration, I went with a pattern I'd been wanting to make ever since seeing ChristabellNails tutorial (this one here).

I used Inglot No.152 and Kiko Pearly Orchid (No.302) for this look.

31DC2014 - Day 5: Blue Nails

Today's nails are, again, a two in one.
I'm still going with both the crazy 31DC2014 and the lovely Endless Summer Nail Challenge and today's nail art had to balance both.

So, for Blue Nails and Nautical Nails, I came up with:

Abstract Seaweed! :D

And now for a short break on 31DC2014, I bring you the weekly feature with Inocos :)

31DC2014 - Day 4: Green Nails

I'm soooo happy about 31DC2014 Day 3!!!
I managed some nail art that's more me than the simple designs I've been making.

I'm happy I had the time to do it and I'm happy with how it came out. Happy all around basically.
So, without further ado, here's today's green nails:

Sooo excited! Can you see it, can you, can you? :)

31DC2014 - Day 3: Yellow Nails

It's Day 3 and I'm still here!! Not only that, but I also managed to match my nails and my outfit today - fancy, fancy! :)

Today's nails are quite simple because last night all I needed was my bed and the calling was too strong to ignore (huge headache also got in the way of something more awesome).

So, here's my simple take on Yellow Nails:

31DC2014 yellow nails

Mustard yellow is fashionable this season apparently and lucky for me (quite the non-fashionable human being), I actually kinda like the colour :)

31DC2014 - Day 2: Orange Nails

It's Day 2 to 31DC2014 and I managed something awesome!! :)

I'm including these in another challenge!!
Giulia, who's the really nice artist behind Pedrìnails,, invited me to the Endless Summer Challenge, she and Fuxia91 created.

Summer does look like it's going away and I thought that making my life even harder by trying to juggle two nail art challenges in one would be great fun! ;)

So here you have my Day 2 #31DC2014 and my (one day late) Day 1 #EndlessSummerNailChallenge:

orange nails

I started by painting an orange gradient on all my nails, using Kiko Bright Orange (No.357), Kiko Tangerine (No.482) and Rival de Loop No.212.

31DC2014 - Day 1: Red Nails

I'm joning the madness again this year!
Chalkboard Nails 31 Day Challenge (read all about it here) is probably the most anticipated nail art blogging event. At least for me.

This was the challenge that really made me push my boundaries and discover I could do nail art - not the normal stuff, but the weird and awesome kind of things.

So, this year, I'm doing it again, together with a whole bunch of crazy nail artists, who, despite having a life, think they're Superwomen :)

So... fingers crossed and let's get this party startin'!!

A while ago, my sweet friend Paulina sent me this beauty and I've saved it up for the beginning of this challenge, for good luck ;)
