POLISHER'S INC. - Inspired By Nature

Today's theme left me wanting to do something other than flowers - which, seems to me, I've been doing a great deal of lately.

I also wanted to try something I'd never ventured into before - that's the whole purpose of having challenges, right? ;)

I took my time procrastinating in the interwebs aaaaannnd it totally paid off :)

I found this photo:

by Fat Juicy Leaves of a stencil graffiti work by Jeremy Novy
(you can read some about this stencil artist and more on the meaning of koi fish to him here)

And that's when I knew I'd found my theme :)

:)

Even though I think I suck at painting fish, I kinda like these.

I painted my nails with Bellaoggi Light Chrome (No.28), which is the prettiest concrete like shade I own.

Before painting the koi fish, I did some dry brush painting with black, using Purple Professional No.18.

I then took my acrylic white paint and started (trying to) paint the koi fish.
And I'm actually sad I couldn't make them look all sinewy and fish like. They're kind of too fat where they're not supposed to be and too thin where they should be something else.

Despite all that, I loved wearing these and kept asking people whether they thought these were koi fish or cows. Erm... most just said it was pretty!!
Hahaha!

How about you? Did I do any good or is this 'pretty'? ;) heheh
Hope you had a smashing weekend, lovelies, and don't forget to check out everyone else's take on the theme!! :)

Hugs and Kissies,

  6. How DO you do it?! Look at something and then go about creating your own take on it - and do it wonderfully. I love the primitive graffiti with Japanese influence look of your fishes - and, again, your choices of polish are spot on! And thanks for the laugh in your post - 'cows'!
