Practice Makes Perfect

Today's mani is not much and I was really pondering not showing it to you, but that would break the whole purpose of this blog, right? ;)

I'm trying to get the hang of brushes and trying to get used to the way they bend and how I can make shapes, etc.

So, today's mani was bent on making leaves:

What do you think?
Do they look like leaves or...are they just weird? ;)
It's ok to tell me! hehehe

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow (which is nearly finished *snif snif*).

And then I did my very first gradient using acrylic paints and I gotta say: it goes on so much smoother!
It's not that the colours blend more perfectly but I don't have to 'recharge' the sponge for each nail!
One dabbed sponge lasts for as much as three nails! How cool is that? :)

After that, I added topcoat and after it dried I started doing leaves using a thin nail art brush and black acrylic paint.
Some turned out better than most but... one's got to start somewhere, right? ;)

Let me know what you think of this one - do be honest! :)

Hope your Monday didn't make you suffer too much ;)

Hugs & Kissies,
Mina *

  2. It looks amazing from afar, but if you ask me, there's some more way to go in making leaves, which is a good thing! They look good, some of them look a little weird... But as you say, it's about practice! So keep it up! Oh, and I want to highlight that the result looks fantastic when not looking each and every leave!

I did like the 'overview effect', though not the detailed look - but you're right: I just have to keep practising ;)

  4. Great gradient!! And leaves are difficult to paint for me too :) they are not bad but I think you start them a bit futher from the trunk, like on your ring finger. They look more natural in that case. In general, this mani looks wonderful!!!
