Stepping Out Of The Comfort Zone

...means to try new things, even if I'm not that good at them... yet! ;)

So, it turns out, I'm sick of winter, annoyed at the weather (it's been raining for the past week or so!) and really bummed I can't seem to be able to take decent pictures of my manicures.

Well, Saturday didn't rain but... no matter! I mean, c'mon!
I've literally ran down the stairs from the office last week, when it stopped raining for a second and the sun shone for a while. (I know, ridiculous.)

Therefore, I've put on my big girl's pants this weekend and decided it was time to go lamp buying.
You'll be the judges on how the photos look, right now:

I started today's manicure with this gorgeous blue polish.
Beauty UK Blue Himalayan is from their Gel FX edition and  it's meant to give your nails that shiny gel like finish.

Considering I applied no topcoat, I'd say it stands up to what it says flawlessly!
Gorgeous shiny finish and a lovely shade of blue, all in one :)

Now, onto something which, if you follow me on Instagram, you've seen coming.
(If you don't follow me there - shame on you! ;) - click here, to see what I'm talking about.)

Ta-da! Stepping Out Of The Comfort Zone - Part II!

Although not perfect, I cannot help but feel proud of these.
Of course, they're not even close to the perfection you get from the one and only, true Queen of glitter placement - Laura, from Polish All the Nails - but I surely will keep trying ;)

I've used a clear polish rather than a topcoat to make the glitter pieces stick.
This is Kiko No.200.
(And yes, I know my skin colour is off in this photo - still trying to bring it all together ;))

I've got to thank my good friend Paulina (Paulina's Passions), for not only giving me much needed advice on the photo taking and telling me the trick really is to experiment, but also for giving me this loose glitter, you see here, for my birthday in November :)
Thank you so much, sweetie <3

Of course, I couldn't shy away from the dreaded macro photo - just so you can see all that went wrong  ;)

Last but not least and so you  bear in mind this kind of look really takes time and patience and experimenting, I'm leaving you with a little surprise, concerning my first glitter placement attemp last Saturday.
Just click on the photo - you know you want to ;)

Check that out, then come back and tell me what you think about it all:
(1) the new lightning; (2) the gorgeous Beauty UK Blue Himalayan; (3) the glitter placement; and (4) the fake glitter placement  ;)

Thank you for sticking with me and motivating me to leave my comfort zone - I wouldn't attempt half the things I do if it weren't for your support - love you all!!

Hugs & Kissies,
Mina *
